Yummy Tacos!
If you haven’t tried Yayo Taco yet (across the street from UNLV), you really should. Yummy!
As opposed to the standard greasy fare from Roberto’s (not that I mind) or the upscale carnitas from Chipotle (*drool!*), Yayo Taco serves the more authentic “slightly larger than silver dollar”-sized tacos, filled with a spoonful or two of carne asada, carnitas, pastor, or other tasty meats. Each meat seems to get its own complimentary salsa.
And as opposed to the “fast food” atmosphere of the other taco vendors on Maryland, Yayo Taco feels cool and relaxed…dark and breezy. For a moment, I imagined I was on a beach in Mexico somewhere, ready to skim my cell phone like those Corona ads. I especially liked the banana plant leaf my tacos were served on. Nice touch!
And speaking of cerveza, the owner assured me they had over 100 varieties and just as many flavors of tequila. Freakin’ Frog, watch out!
The kicker was the “UNLV Special:” four tacos, two sides and a soda…for $5 bucks. Wow! I have a feeling they’ll be learning my name before long.
Check it out. Highly recommended!
